Huskies Down Gannon; Await NCAA Playoffs

ERIE-- Quarterback Dan Latorre (Elysburg/Southern Columbia) threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Kyle Ream (Elliottsburg/West Perry), to lead Bloomsburg University to a 38-10 win over Gannon University in the regular season finale for both teams. The Huskies end the season at 10-1, while Gannon falls to 4-7.
Bloomsburg got on the board late in the first period when Latorre hit Ream with 21-yard scoring pass with 37 seconds left in the period. The scoring drive was set up by the first career interception from Alex Landis (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) and was helped by a 38-yard pass from Latorre to Jordan Weisman (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape).
On the ensuing drive for Gannon, the Golden Knights quarterback Zack Boedicker was intercepted again, this time by Jesse Cooper (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp) who returned the ball 46-yards for a touchdown giving the Huskies two scores within a 56-second span.
The Huskies added to their lead when Latorre connected with Ream on a 19-yard yard pass play to make it a 21-0 lead with 11:06 left to play in the second period. Latorre then used his legs to add to the Huskies lead when he ran 15-yards on a quarterback keeper to make it 28-0 at the break.
In the third period, the Huskies made it a 31-0 game when Jon Koenig (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) connected on a 33-yard field goal capping a 12-play drive. Gannon finally got on the board in the third period when Jeremy Ditzler hit a 29-yard field goal with 1:20 to go.
In the fourth period the Huskies added a 15-yard scoring pass from Latorre to Ryan Barr (Fayetteville, GA/Starrs Mill), while Gannon scored its only touchdown of the game on a six-yard run by Boedicker with 4:33 left to play.
Latorre finished the day 14-21 for 208 yards and three scores, while Ream caught seven passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Mike Varanavage (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) made 12 tackles.
Bloomsburg finishes with double digit wins for the sixth time in school history and the third time in the last four years and will now await word on the NCAA playoffs. The pairings will be announced on ESPN News on Sunday between 3 and 3:30 p.m.
